ABB India shared its Q1 CY2025 (January-March 2025) results ahead of the analyst call scheduled for May 12, 2025. Total orders grew 4% YoY to Rs 3,751 crore, with base orders rising a strong 10% to Rs 3,545 crore and export orders up 40%. Revenue grew 3% to Rs 3,160 crore and PAT rose 3% to Rs 474 crore, with margins improving slightly on better revenue mix, price realization, and forex gains. Order backlog stood at a healthy Rs 9,958 crore (+11% YoY) and cash balance strengthened to Rs 5,756 crore. Performance was mixed across segments: Robotics & Discrete Automation surged (orders +114%, revenues +37%) on electronics demand, Motion grew steadily (+6%/+8%), Electrification was flat on orders but revenue grew 5%, while Process Automation declined sharply (orders -16%, revenues -19%) due to lower system orders and delayed customer deliveries.
Stable, broad-based growth with a strong order backlog and rising export contribution reinforces ABB India's steady earnings outlook, though the sharp Process Automation slowdown is a near-term watchpoint. The strong cash position and improving margins offer comfort, but lack of margin expansion in absolute EBITDA terms may limit near-term re-rating.
