ABB India filed the transcript of its Q1 CY2025 (January–March 2025) earnings call held on May 12, 2025. Orders grew 4% year-on-year (base orders up 10%), revenues rose 3%, and profit after tax grew 3%. Order backlog stood at Rs. 9,958 crore, up 11%, giving strong revenue visibility. Operational EBITDA margin was 16.4% with PBT margin around 20%; PAT margin guidance of 12–15% was maintained. Exports grew 40% in orders, and segment profitability remained strong: Electrification at 25.7% and Motion at 22%. Management flagged continued weakness in Process Automation (negative growth for three quarters) due to delayed customer CAPEX decisions amid global and domestic uncertainty, but said base business and underlying Indian demand remain robust. Cash balance was Rs. 5,756 crore, with capacity expansion underway and inorganic opportunities being evaluated.
Mixed signal for shareholders: base business and order book are healthy, but large project flow remains sluggish, keeping near-term growth in single digits. The maintained 12–15% PAT margin band and Rs. 9,958 crore backlog provide comfort, though Process Automation recovery is uncertain and depends on macro clarity.
