Adani Power has won a Letter of Award from Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) to supply 1,500 MW of thermal power over 25 years. The power will come from a new greenfield 2x800 MW (1,500 MW net) ultra-supercritical thermal power plant to be built in Uttar Pradesh under the DBFOO (Design, Build, Finance, Own, Operate) model. The company quoted the lowest tariff of Rs 5.383 per unit in a competitive bidding process. Total investment in the project is estimated at about $2 billion, with power supply expected to begin by FY30. This is Adani Power's second major long-term power supply win in the past year, following the 6,600 MW PSA it secured from MSEDCL in September 2024.
This is a significant capacity addition and revenue opportunity for Adani Power, strengthening its position as India's largest private thermal power producer and locking in long-term cash flows through a 25-year contract with a state utility. The order is likely to be viewed positively by the market, signaling strong order book momentum and future earnings visibility.
