Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC reported Q1 FY26 revenue from operations of INR 447 crore (up 16% YoY), operating profit of INR 254 crore (up 21% YoY), and profit after tax of INR 277 crore (up 18% YoY). The company crossed the INR 4 lakh crore mutual fund AUM milestone, with total AUM including alternates at INR 4.43 lakh crore (21% YoY growth) and equity AUM at INR 1.8 lakh crore (11% YoY). SIP AUM stood at INR 84,000 crore contributing 45% of total AUM, and PMS/AIF assets grew 8x to INR 28,657 crore led by the ESIC mandate. Management highlighted that Q1 net sales alone exceeded full-year FY25 net sales, while market share remained flat. Key segment yields were 67-68 bps for equity, 24-25 bps for debt, and 13-14 bps for liquid funds. Plans include launching the ABSL India Equity Innovation Fund, a new 'Apex' brand for Specialized Investment Funds (SIF), and converting the GIFT City operation into a subsidiary.
Strong double-digit growth in revenue and profits, combined with a 21% jump in operating profit outpacing revenue growth, signals improving operating leverage, which is positive for shareholders. However, flat market share despite the large AUM base and management's reluctance to cut distributor commissions suggest competitive pressures remain, limiting near-term margin upside.
