Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Bhupatipur–Punpun (NH-22) elevated and at-grade road section of the Mithapur–Mahuli–Punpun project, built by Afcons Infrastructure. The project includes a 5 km elevated four-lane road, 10 km at-grade four-lane road, and a 1 km ramp, designed for 100 km/hr, reducing travel time from nearly one hour to about 10 minutes for lakhs of commuters. Phase II of the project was completed in just 19 months, five months ahead of the original 24-month schedule, highlighting strong execution efficiency. Key challenges included erecting 1,764 precast segments across 112 spans amid heavy live traffic, and widening the carriageway from 7 metres to 17 metres.
