AGI Greenpac has announced the official groundbreaking for a new greenfield aluminium beverage can manufacturing facility in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, backed by a ₹1,000 crore investment. The plant will span 34 acres and launch with 1.6 billion cans per year capacity (initial output 1.3 billion), scalable to over 2 billion through debottlenecking. Operations are targeted for H1 2027. The facility aims for a Platinum Green Building rating and will produce standard, sleek, and slim can formats for beverages including CSD, beer, energy drinks, and RTD. Strategically located in Uttar Pradesh, the plant targets North and Central India consumption markets to reduce logistics costs. India's current domestic can capacity is ~3.9 billion cans/year with double-digit growth expected.
The ₹1,000 crore capex represents a major diversification into aluminium cans, a high-growth packaging segment, and positions AGI Greenpac as an integrated packaging partner. Execution risk and timeline to H1 2027 completion will be key watch points for investors.
