Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals shared its Q1 FY26 investor presentation. Total income rose modestly to ₹1,051 Cr (+2.4% YoY), but profitability improved sharply — adjusted EBITDA grew to ₹156 Cr (14.8% margin, up 208 bps YoY) and adjusted PAT reached ₹65 Cr (6.2% margin, up 57 bps YoY). Cash surplus strengthened to ₹1,518 Cr (from ₹566 Cr in FY25) after receiving €100 Mn as advance against a European CDMO contract. The company crossed 1,000 DCGI approvals and secured its first EU dossier approval (Rivaroxaban), with commercial supplies from the EU contract set to begin in April 2027. Market conditions remained soft, with industry volume growth below 0.5% and continued API price weakness, though CDMO (79.4% of revenue) held up due to a better product mix.
Positive for shareholders: meaningful margin expansion and a strong cash pile give Akums flexibility to fund growth and acquisitions, though near-term revenue growth is muted due to weak industry volumes and API pricing. The EU CDMO contract start in April 2027 is a key future catalyst.
