Alkali Metals reported Q1 FY26 (quarter ended 30 June 2025) revenue of ₹2,061.13 lakhs, up about 40% from ₹1,466.74 lakhs in the same quarter last year, helped by stronger export sales (₹1,119.22 lakhs). The company swung to an operating profit of ₹32.16 lakhs from a loss of ₹332.46 lakhs a year ago, but posted a net loss of ₹115.30 lakhs due to a one-time reversal of unutilized MAT credit of ₹137.56 lakhs. Statutory auditor C K S Associates resigned effective 18 July 2025 citing internal firm restructuring (retirement of senior partners), noting no disagreement with management or audit concerns. J V S L & Associates (ICAI FRN: 015002S) has been appointed to fill the casual vacancy, subject to shareholder approval at the 57th AGM. C K S Associates had only been appointed in August 2024, making this a short-tenured exit.
The strong revenue growth and return to operating profit are positive, but the headline net loss driven by a tax adjustment may worry short-term investors. The mid-term auditor change, while attributed to internal restructuring with no governance flags, is worth monitoring — investors should watch for smooth transition and timely AGM approval of the new auditor.
