Alkem Laboratories has received approval from BSE and NSE to reclassify four members of the promoter group — Shikhar Raj, Sadhika Raj, Sakshi Sinha, and Satyam Sinha — to the public category. Together they hold 22 lakh shares, or 1.84% of the company. As a result, promoter group holding drops from 55.13% to 53.29%, while public shareholding rises from 44.87% to 46.71%. The original application was filed on April 26, 2024, and the stock exchanges approved it on July 15, 2025. The promoter group still retains a majority stake above 50% after the change.
This is a formal category change, not a sale of shares — the same individuals continue to hold the shares, just classified as public shareholders. Promoter control of the company is not at risk, and this should have no meaningful effect on the stock price. It slightly increases the floating public shareholding, which could marginally improve liquidity over time.
