Alpa Laboratories reported Q1 FY26 standalone revenue from operations of Rs 1,911.07 lakhs, down about 10.9% from Rs 2,144.37 lakhs in Q1 FY25. However, other income jumped sharply to Rs 1,195.78 lakhs (vs Rs 516.02 lakhs), largely driven by unrealized profit from a rise in the fair value of investments. Total income rose to Rs 3,106.85 lakhs. Standalone profit after tax surged to Rs 1,177.59 lakhs (from Rs 512.45 lakhs), with no current tax expense booked in the quarter. The statutory auditor (C.H. Padliya & Co.) issued an unmodified limited review conclusion on both standalone and consolidated results. The board also approved the notice for the 37th Annual General Meeting.
Headline profit growth of over 2x looks strong, but it is driven mainly by mark-to-market investment gains rather than core business. Core operating revenue declined and operating margin compressed, so the underlying business performance is weaker than the reported PAT suggests. Investors should look through the other-income boost to assess true operating health.
