Angel One reported its monthly business metrics for April 2025. Client base grew 1.5% month-on-month and 37% year-on-year to 31.48 million, while the average client funding book rose 86.7% YoY to Rs. 39.12 billion. However, order volumes were down 21.3% YoY at 106.61 million and gross client acquisitions fell 34.6% YoY to 0.49 million, partly due to fewer trading days and the full effect of SEBI's index derivative regulations that kicked in mid-March 2025. Commodity ADTO surged 90.1% YoY to Rs. 862 billion, while overall equity retail market share improved to 19.6% from 18.4% a year ago. MoM metrics were broadly stable across order volumes, client additions and ADTO, indicating operational resilience post the regulatory changes.
Short-term revenue remains under pressure from lower YoY order volumes and ADTO following tighter F&O rules, but the growing client base and funding book point to long-term monetization potential. Mixed signals — commodity strength and steady MoM trends are positives, while YoY declines in orders and F&O turnover remain headwinds for near-term earnings.
