The Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out search and seizure proceedings at Ansal Properties & Infrastructure's offices in Delhi and Lucknow from April 30, 2025, with the Delhi office search concluding on May 1, 2025. The action was taken under Section 17 of the Prevention of Money-Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. The company stated its officers fully cooperated with the authorities. Ansal Properties is already undergoing Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) since February 25, 2025, following an NCLT order under Section 7 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. Due to the ongoing insolvency proceedings, the company said the financial impact of the ED action cannot be quantified.
Negative for shareholders — the ED action under anti-money-laundering laws compounds existing insolvency troubles, could complicate the ongoing resolution process and delay any recovery for stakeholders. Expect heightened legal and regulatory uncertainty around the stock.
