Apollo Tyres has acquired an additional 3.43% equity stake in Green Infra Wind Power Projects Limited (GIWPPL), which operates a 24 MW wind power project in Tamil Nadu. The company bought 60,000 shares at Rs. 10 each, totalling Rs. 6 lakh, taking its total holding in GIWPPL from 17.84% to 21.27%. The purpose of the acquisition is to procure wind power, likely to support Apollo Tyres' own renewable energy needs. GIWPPL reported revenue of Rs. 235.25 million in FY24 and is a subsidiary of Sembcorp Green Infra Private Limited. The transaction is not a related-party deal and was completed on May 6, 2025.
The deal size is very small (just Rs. 6 lakh) and is a step-up in an existing investment rather than a new acquisition, so it is unlikely to move the stock price. Strategically, it signals Apollo Tyres' commitment to sourcing renewable energy for its operations, which supports its ESG and sustainability goals.
