Ballarpur Industries, a paper company under IBC resolution since 2020 and now controlled by Finquest Financial Solutions, reported Q1 FY26 results with revenue from operations of just Rs 182.91 lakh against a net loss of Rs 2,327.12 lakh (loss of Rs 4.23 per share), showing operations have not yet restarted. The board allotted the third and final tranche of 28 lakh 0.01% non-cumulative redeemable preference shares at par to Finquest, raising Rs 28 crore to fund revival. Separately, CEO Mr. Alok Prakash (PhD, 28+ years in paper/textile industry, ex-Century Pulp & Paper) was additionally appointed as Whole Time Director effective August 7, 2025. The auditor flagged a qualified conclusion over unpaid BSE/NSE penalties and a material going-concern uncertainty, though management stated new funds are being infused for capex and to restart the factory.
For shareholders, the picture is mixed: preference share allotment to the resolution applicant strengthens the new promoter's control, and senior leadership formalisation is positive, but near-zero revenue and widening losses show the business is still pre-revival. Investors should watch for actual restart of manufacturing operations and progress on selling the Rs 487 crore of assets held for sale before expecting any meaningful earnings improvement.
