BSE and NSE have imposed monetary penalties on Arihant Capital Markets. BSE levied ₹1.2 lakh (₹1 lakh disincentive + ₹20,000 penalty) for operational non-compliances including terminal location issues, AP inspection gaps, and a minor PIN code discrepancy (452003 vs 452001). NSE imposed a much larger penalty of ₹24.83 lakh on account of alleged reversal trades executed between two clients in the cash market segment. The company acted merely as an intermediary providing its trading platform and claims such reversal trades cannot be identified before execution. All penalty amounts were debited in April 2026 and the NSE penalty has been remitted. The company states these penalties have no material impact on its financials or operations, and has undertaken corrective measures including staff sensitization on compliance requirements.
While the penalties are relatively small for BSE, the ₹24.83 lakh NSE penalty is significant. However, the company has downplayed the impact as immaterial. The disclosure reveals compliance gaps in operational processes, though management considers them procedural in nature. For shareholders, the main concern is whether such penalties indicate broader compliance weaknesses at a stockbroker.
