On 13th August 2025, officials from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Bangalore Zonal Office, conducted a search at Ashapura Minechem's Mumbai office (Jeevan Udyog Building, Fort) and at the Executive Chairman's personal residence. Documents and digital devices were examined and collected, and the search at the office concluded at 4:25 a.m. on 14th August 2025. The ED also issued a freezing order on balances in a few bank accounts of the company (standalone). This appears connected to an older case — Spl. C.C Court 15 of 2014 (Special CBI Court, Bengaluru) relating to iron ore exports in FY 2010-11, against which the company has filed an appeal in the Karnataka High Court. The company states it does not expect any material operational or financial impact from the search.
This is a negative development that creates uncertainty and overhang on the stock, given ED searches and frozen bank balances could disrupt operations or cash flows despite the company's assurance of no material impact. Shareholders should monitor further disclosures, as the ED action could escalate into formal proceedings under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
