Ashok Leyland reported its June 2025 sales of 15,333 vehicles (domestic + exports), up 3% from 14,940 units a year ago, supported by strong growth in M&HCV buses (3,172 units, +56%). However, domestic M&HCV truck sales fell 12% to 6,554 units, pulling overall domestic volumes down 1% to 14,184 units. LCV sales were largely flat at 5,315 units domestically (+2%). On a cumulative (Q1 FY26) basis, total domestic sales slipped 1% to 41,227 units, while domestic + exports rose 1% to 44,238 units, indicating that exports cushioned the softness in the domestic truck market.
Mixed signals for shareholders — a sharp drop in core M&HCV truck volumes domestically is a concern, but the bus segment's strong rebound and export contribution kept overall numbers in the green. Investors will watch whether the truck weakness persists or is a one-month blip.
