Astec LifeSciences, a Godrej-group agrochemical company, reported consolidated total income of Rs. 91.6 crore for Q1 FY26, up 30.3% from Rs. 70.3 crore in Q1 FY25. The company remains loss-making at the bottom line, with a net loss of Rs. 33 crore, but this is a significant improvement from a Rs. 39.7 crore loss a year ago. EBITDA loss narrowed sharply to Rs. 10.5 crore from Rs. 45.3 crore last year, partly helped by last year's base being hit by an Rs. 18.5 crore inventory write-down. Enterprise business revenue grew 68.2% and CDMO/Contract Manufacturing business grew 85.7% year-on-year, while exports rose 48.1% and domestic sales rose 17.7%.
For shareholders, the story is one of strong top-line growth and sharply reduced losses rather than full profitability, which is a positive directional signal but the stock is still in turnaround mode. Short-term sentiment may improve on the narrowing losses, but sustained share-price support will depend on the company moving into actual profit in coming quarters.
