AstraZeneca Pharma India published its Q1 FY26 unaudited results in Business Standard on 15 August 2025. Total income from operations rose to Rs. 5,375.5 million, up from Rs. 3,958.7 million in the same quarter last year, a growth of about 35.8%. The company swung to a net profit after tax of Rs. 558.3 million, compared to a loss of Rs. 117.9 million in Q1 FY25. Basic and diluted EPS stood at Rs. 22.33 versus a loss of Rs. 4.72 per share in the year-ago quarter. The Board approved the results on 14 August 2025 after a limited review by statutory auditors. Notably, the company has ceased operations at its manufacturing site and begun decommissioning plant and machinery, which has been fully depreciated.
Strong top-line growth and a clear swing back to profitability from a year-ago loss are positive signals for shareholders. However, the shutdown of the manufacturing facility signals a strategic shift away from in-house production, which could affect long-term cost structure and supply dynamics.
