Avenue Supermarts (DMart) filed its Q1 FY2026 investor presentation showing revenue from operations of ₹15,932 Crs, up 16.2% from ₹13,712 Crs in Q1 FY2025. However, profitability came under pressure with EBITDA margin declining to 8.2% (from 8.9%) and PAT margin falling to 5.2% (from 5.9%); absolute PAT grew modestly to ₹830 Crs from ₹812 Crs. Same-store (LFL) growth slowed to 7.1% from 9.1% in the year-ago quarter, indicating some demand cooling. The store network expanded to 424 stores (from 371 a year ago), and the DMart Ready online service scaled to 24 cities from 6.
Strong top-line growth and continued store expansion support the long-term story, but the sharp drop in margins and slower LFL growth could weigh on the stock in the near term, especially as valuation has been premium. Investors should watch for signs of margin recovery in upcoming quarters.
