Axis Bank reported audited standalone net profit of Rs 24,457 crore for FY26, down from Rs 26,373 crore in FY25, marking a 7.3% decline in profit after tax. Total income grew 3.5% to Rs 1,53,163 crore from Rs 1,47,934 crore, driven by higher interest income of Rs 1,27,032 crore. The bank made substantial one-time provisions including Rs 2,001 crore voluntarily to strengthen balance sheet and Rs 1,231 crore for declassified PSL loans per RBI advisory. Gross NPA improved to 1.23% from 1.28% year-on-year. Return on Assets declined to 1.45% from 1.74%. Joint statutory auditors issued an unmodified (clean) opinion on the financial results. The board recommended dividend of Rs 1 per share (50%).
Profit decline despite revenue growth reflects heavy provisioning costs. The voluntary Rs 2,001 crore provision, while prudent, pressured near-term profitability. Improved asset quality and strong capital adequacy (16.42% Basel III) are positives for long-term stability.
