Balkrishna Industries (BKT) reported Q1 FY26 standalone revenue from operations of Rs. 2,760.46 crores, up modestly from Rs. 2,689.53 crores in Q1 FY25 (~2.6% growth). However, profit after tax (PAT) fell sharply to Rs. 287.17 crores from Rs. 477.29 crores a year ago, a drop of nearly 40%. Standalone operating margin compressed sharply to 11.49% from 18.17% in the same quarter last year, reflecting cost pressure. The Board declared a 1st interim dividend of Rs. 4 per share (200%) with a record date of July 31, 2025, involving a cash outflow of Rs. 77.32 crores. Debt-equity ratio remained healthy at 0.32, and the limited review by statutory auditor Jayantilal Thakkar & Co. was unqualified.
Weak margin performance and steep PAT decline despite stable revenue is negative for near-term sentiment, but the healthy dividend payout and solid balance sheet (low debt-equity) provide some comfort for long-term shareholders.
