Ballarpur Industries has received a Consent to Operate (CTO) from the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) for its Shree Gopal pulp and paper manufacturing unit at Yamuna Nagar. The CTO is valid for about four years, from August 15, 2025 to September 30, 2029. The unit is classified as a RED category (highly polluting) industry and has a production capacity of 233 metric tonnes per day of writing, printing, bond, copier and cup paper. Total investment in the unit is around ₹2,536 crore, and the consent comes with several specific compliance conditions including installation of pollution control devices, effluent monitoring, green belt development and compliance with NGT and court directions.
This is a routine but important regulatory clearance that allows the Yamuna Nagar unit to continue operations legally without risk of shutdown for non-compliance. For shareholders, it removes an operational uncertainty around the plant's licensing status and supports steady production, though the company remains exposed to strict pollution control conditions typical of RED-category units.
