Balrampur Chini Mills' Bioyug division held its 'Bioyug On Wheels' awareness campaign in Rajkot, Gujarat, drawing over 500 visitors including students and municipal officials. The event showcased compostable PLA bioplastics made from sugarcane as sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics. A recent government study noted PLA microplastics in Indian soil declined from 287 to 18 particles per kg within 180 days. BCML is setting up India's first PLA plant with 80,000 tonnes per annum capacity.
No immediate financial impact; brand-building outreach supports the upcoming 80,000 TPA PLA plant and broader sustainability positioning.
