Balurghat Technologies reported Q1 FY26 net sales of Rs. 2,792.42 lakhs, a sharp jump of about 65% from Rs. 1,691.28 lakhs in the same quarter last year. However, the company swung to a loss after tax of Rs. 66.83 lakhs, compared to a profit of Rs. 41.63 lakhs in Q1 FY25, with EPS turning negative at -0.38 versus +0.24. Total expenses ballooned from Rs. 1,637.27 lakhs to Rs. 2,868 lakhs, with operating costs up around 80% and finance costs more than doubling to Rs. 49.24 lakhs. The auditor issued a clean (unqualified) limited review report with no qualifications or emphasis of matter. The board also approved revisions in remuneration for promoter family directors and the COO/CFO, plus the re-appointment of Mr. Ravikant Sethia as Whole-Time Director, and fixed September 10, 2025 for the 31st AGM.
Despite strong top-line growth, the company slipped into a quarterly loss due to rising costs, which is a negative signal for near-term earnings quality and shareholder returns. Pending litigation with IDBI Bank over a corporate guarantee of around Rs. 57.84 crore is also a material overhang to monitor.
