Bank of Maharashtra reported strong Q1FY26 results with net profit rising 23.14% year-on-year to ₹1,593 crore, up from ₹1,293 crore in Q1FY25. Total business grew 14.63% to ₹5,46,143 crore, driven by 15.34% growth in gross advances to ₹2,41,097 crore and 14.07% growth in deposits to ₹3,05,046 crore. Net interest income rose 17.60% to ₹3,292 crore while operating profit grew 12% to ₹2,570 crore. Asset quality improved further, with gross NPA falling to 1.74% and net NPA at a low 0.18%, and the bank maintained a healthy capital adequacy ratio of 20.06%. Retail advances jumped 35.37% and the CASA share improved to 50.07%, though return on equity moderated to 23% from 27.62% a year ago.
Strong profit growth, improving asset quality, and robust advances growth signal healthy operational performance and should be viewed positively by shareholders. The lower RoE compared to last year is a minor watchpoint, but overall the results reinforce the bank's growth momentum.
