Bata India has published notices in Financial Express (English, all editions) and Ekdin (Bengali, Kolkata edition) on May 23, 2025, informing shareholders about the upcoming transfer of equity shares to the IEPF Demat Account. Shares belonging to shareholders who have not claimed any dividend since 2017-18 (i.e., seven consecutive years) are liable to be transferred. Shareholders have been given until June 17, 2025, to submit a valid claim to the company or its registrar MUFG Intime India Private Limited. After this date, the shares will be moved to the IEPF Demat Account, and shareholders can later reclaim them by filing Form IEPF-5 on www.iepf.gov.in.
This is a routine regulatory compliance filing and is unlikely to have a material impact on Bata India's stock price. However, shareholders with unclaimed dividends since FY2017-18 should act before the June 17, 2025 deadline to avoid losing their shares to the IEPF, from which recovery is possible but cumbersome.
