Bengal Tea & Fabrics reported FY25 total revenue from operations of Rs. 5,373 lakhs versus Rs. 5,612 lakhs in FY24, a slight decline mainly because no real estate revenue was booked this year. However, the core Tea Division revenue grew strongly from Rs. 3,966 lakhs to Rs. 5,373 lakhs (~35% growth). Continuing operations posted a loss after tax of Rs. (167) lakhs, improving from Rs. (260) lakhs last year. Profit before tax from continuing operations improved sharply to Rs. 810 lakhs from Rs. 249 lakhs. A one-time gain of Rs. 8,529 lakhs from the sale of the closed Textile Division (discontinued operations) boosted total comprehensive income to Rs. 8,281 lakhs versus Rs. (283) lakhs in FY24. The Board declared a final dividend of Rs. 1.50 per share (15%) with record date July 4, 2025. The internal auditor was changed to M/s. B M Chatrath & Co. LLP.
Strong tea segment growth and dividend declaration are positive signals, but continuing operations remain in the red and operating cash flow from continuing business was negative Rs. 862 lakhs. The headline profit surge is driven by a one-time textile asset sale and is not recurring, so investors should focus on the core tea business turnaround.
