Bharat Coking Coal Limited has disclosed that coal mining and dispatch operations at the ABOCP Mine under Block-II have been illegally halted since April 2, 2026, around 3:00 PM. The stoppage was initiated by unorganised workers (local mazdoors) who are demanding full-time HPC wages and other benefits. The company stated that its departmental production has been drastically reduced, making it difficult to accommodate these workers on a full-time basis. Coal crushing is now mandatory through outsourcing, rendering shale-picking work largely irrelevant. The company has lodged an FIR with Baghmara Police Station and escalated the matter to senior authorities including the SSP Dhanbad and CISF officials. The production stoppage is currently ongoing.
This operational disruption will impact coal production and revenue for BCCL. The illegal nature of the stoppage and ongoing nature of the issue suggest potential financial losses until normal operations are restored through administrative or legal intervention.
