Bharat Dynamics Limited has successfully delivered India's first indigenous Production-Grade Wire Guided Heavy Weight Torpedo (WGHWT) to NSTL at its Visakhapatnam Unit. BDL served as the Development-cum-Production Partner working with DRDO's NSTL, Indian Navy, and various industrial partners including MSMEs. The torpedo has been realized in both practice and combat configurations. This achievement marks a major step in India's quest for self-reliance in advanced naval weapon systems under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The event was attended by senior officials including Commodore A. Madhavarao (Retd.), CMD of BDL, and Dr. R. V. Hara Prasad, Distinguished Scientist and DG (NS&M).
