Bharat Electronics Limited has signed a Rs. 1251 Crore contract (excluding taxes) with the Ministry of Defence for supplying Ground Based Mobile ELINT System (GBMES) to the Indian Army. The GBMES is a fully indigenous, state-of-the-art electronic intelligence system designed by DLRL Hyderabad and manufactured by BEL. The system can detect, classify, and locate all types of radars, and also intercept and analyze communication signals. This networked intelligence system enhances situational awareness and Air Defence capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces.
This is a significant order for BEL, representing approximately 7-8% of the company's typical annual revenue, which is positive for the company's order book and future revenue visibility. As a defence order from the Ministry of Defence, it reinforces BEL's position as a key defence electronics supplier to the Indian government.
