Bharat Rasayan reported a strong Q1 FY26 on the back of stable prices, robust global demand, pest infestation and a favourable monsoon. Standalone revenue from operations rose to ₹37,740 lacs, up about 34% from ₹28,220 lacs in Q1 FY25. Standalone profit after tax jumped to ₹4,366 lacs (₹105.07 EPS) versus ₹2,680 lacs (₹64.50 EPS), a growth of roughly 63% year-on-year. Operating margin expanded sharply to 19.76% from 13.49% a year ago. The quarter also included a one-time exceptional expense of ₹14.78 crore towards Environmental Damage Compensation linked to the 2022 Dahej plant fire, paid under protest per an NGT directive with an appeal pending in the Supreme Court. On a consolidated basis, PAT dipped to ₹3,966 lacs from ₹4,312 lacs as the Nissan Bharat Rasayan joint venture swung to a loss of ₹13.33 crore (including a ₹17.15 crore FX loss) versus a forex gain last year. Credit ratings of CARE AA- (long-term) and CARE A1+ (short-term) were maintained, and a ₹1.50 per share final dividend (15%) was proposed with 12 September 2025 as the record date.
Strong top-line and bottom-line growth along with margin expansion should be viewed positively by shareholders, though the exceptional charge and the JV's FX-driven loss are modest drags. Investors should watch the Supreme Court outcome on the Dahej EDC matter and the FY26 monsoon trajectory, as management flags climate dependence as a key performance driver.
