Bharat Road Network Limited has released its audited financial results for FY2026 with a Qualified Opinion from auditors S.S. Kothari Mehta & Co. The auditors found that the company and its subsidiaries have not recognized interest on financial assistance from July 2024 onwards, non-compliant with Ind AS accounting standards. On a standalone basis, the reported profit before tax of Rs. 376.59 lakhs should actually be a loss of Rs. 3,731.10 lakhs after accounting for unrecognized interest of Rs. 7,027.26 lakhs. The consolidated loss stands at Rs. 5,945.92 lakhs with additional issues at subsidiary Guruvayoor Infrastructure Private Limited (GIPL) and Orissa Steel Expressway Private Limited (OSEPL). The auditors have highlighted material uncertainty regarding the company's ability to continue as a going concern due to defaults in repayment of dues. Additionally, the board has kept in abeyance the request from promoter Srei Infrastructure Finance Limited for reclassification to public category pending further documentation.
This is a highly negative development for shareholders. The qualified audit opinion, going concern warning, and significant accounting irregularities indicate serious financial distress. The company has defaulted on loan repayments and the auditors have explicitly questioned its ability to continue as a going concern.
