Google officially broke ground on its landmark AI hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh — its largest investment in India's digital future to date. The project is a gigawatt-scale AI ecosystem (three data center campuses) being developed in partnership with AdaniConneX and Nxtra by Airtel, Bharti Airtel's data centre subsidiary. It forms part of Google's US$15 billion investment over five years (2026–2030) aligned with the government's Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. Nxtra by Airtel and AdaniConneX are leading construction of the data centre buildings and connecting infrastructure. Airtel's contribution includes its full-stack data centres, green power, pan-India ultra-low latency fibre, and a next-gen cable landing station. Community development initiatives covering water management, maritime trades, women's entrepreneurship, and workforce skilling were also announced.
Bharti Airtel, through its Nxtra by Airtel unit, gains a major role in India's flagship AI infrastructure project, deepening its data centre and connectivity business while strengthening its strategic relationship with Google — a positive signal for revenue diversification and long-term growth.
