Nxtra by Airtel, the data centre arm of Bharti Airtel, has signed a new power-wheeling agreement with AMPIN Energy Transition for 125.65 MW of solar-wind hybrid energy from Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) connected plants. This adds 205,167 MWh of renewable energy supply, taking the total partnership between the two companies beyond 200 MW. The capacity will be delivered in two phases through captive projects in Rajasthan and Karnataka, expanding AMPIN's footprint to 11 new states. The additional green power is expected to reduce Nxtra's carbon emissions by approximately 149,156 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually. Nxtra, which joined the global RE100 initiative in June 2024 and has aligned its Net Zero commitment with SBTi, continues to scale renewable energy use across its data centre operations.
This is a sustainability-driven infrastructure move for Nxtra's data centres, supporting long-term cost efficiency and ESG goals, but it is not a revenue-generating order and is unlikely to move the stock price in the near term. It reinforces Bharti Airtel's positioning in the growing green data centre segment.
