Birla Corporation's bid for the Gourum Khan Ki Dhani (South) Limestone Block in Rajasthan has been rejected by the Government. The block spans 499.6394 hectares and the company was earlier declared the Preferred Bidder in June 2025 with a 20.60% final price offer. The rejection came via an order dated 31st December 2025, with the government citing that the 20.60% price offer was comparatively lower than bids received in auctions of other similar limestone blocks in the region. The company had complied with all procedural requirements, including depositing the upfront payment. Birla Corporation is now examining the matter and considering legal recourse.
This is a negative development as the company loses access to a sizable limestone mining block that could have supported its cement/raw material operations. The stock may see short-term pressure, though the company is evaluating legal options, leaving room for a possible recovery depending on the outcome.
