Birlasoft reported Q1 FY26 revenue of $150.7 million, down 1% quarter-on-quarter in dollar terms, hit by ramp-downs and project completions in the Manufacturing vertical (which fell 4% QoQ). EBITA margin came in at 12.4%, with management guiding margins to stay in the 12.6%-13.1% range. Total contract value (TCV) deal wins were around $141 million in the quarter, with more than half coming from new deals, including marquee wins in Agentic AI and quality engineering. Cash and cash equivalents stood strong at $266.6 million (up 16% year-on-year) with zero debt. CFO Kamini Shah is stepping down for personal reasons, and Chandrasekar Thyagarajan will return as CFO effective August 8, 2025. Effective tax rate jumped to 35.9% in Q1 due to a one-time provision, expected to normalise next year. Management expects sequential growth in Q2 but declined to commit to positive full-year growth, citing a low base of $152 million and macro uncertainty around tariffs and discretionary spending.
Near-term outlook remains cautious with weak Manufacturing and ERP verticals dragging growth, but the company sits on a robust cash pile and is winning strategic AI-led deals, which could support a stronger FY27 if the targeted $850 million+ order book materialises. Investors may watch the CFO transition and Q2 sequential growth closely as key near-term catalysts.
