Blue Star's Executive Management Committee has approved the acquisition of the remaining 51% shareholding in its subsidiary Blue Star Qatar W.L.L. (BSQ) from Al Malki Trading & Contracting Co. (ATC) for a total consideration not exceeding ₹50 lakh (at face value of QAR 102,000). Currently, Blue Star holds 49% of BSQ shares but enjoys 95% economic interest and management control due to Qatar's prior foreign ownership restrictions. Qatar has now permitted 100% foreign ownership, enabling this simplification. BSQ's turnover for FY 2025-26 was QAR 25 million. The acquisition requires approvals from RBI and Qatari regulatory authorities, expected to complete within 8 months. Post-acquisition, BSQ will become a wholly owned subsidiary with no change in control.
This is a minor structural consolidation for Blue Star with negligible financial impact (under ₹50 lakh). BSQ was already consolidated as a subsidiary with 95% economic interest, so shareholder value impact is minimal. The stock is unlikely to react materially to this announcement.
