The Board approved unaudited financial results for Q1 FY26. On a standalone basis, revenue from operations rose to ₹71.79 cr from ₹65.51 cr a year ago, and profit after tax jumped sharply to ₹33.27 cr from ₹8.43 cr, aided by a net exceptional gain of ₹45.48 cr (mainly from transfer of Bombay Dyeing shares to step-down subsidiary Baymanco). However, profit before exceptional items and tax was a loss of ₹12.21 cr versus a profit of ₹40.13 cr last year, reflecting weaker core earnings. On a consolidated basis, revenue from operations grew to ₹4,711.91 cr from ₹4,333.43 cr, while profit after tax rose modestly to ₹497.66 cr from ₹471.62 cr, with the food-bakery and dairy segment (Britannia) contributing the bulk of earnings. The company also plans to monetise certain Tamil Nadu plantation assets via e-auction.
Standalone PAT surge is largely driven by one-time exceptional gains rather than core operations, which remain in the red — investors should look at consolidated, Britannia-led performance for the real picture. The stock may see limited reaction as headline growth masks underlying weakness in the standalone business.
