Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation (BBTC) has informed the stock exchanges that its Board, at a meeting on 26th March 2026, approved the sale of its Dunsandle Tea Estate located in Sholur, Udhagamandalam, Nilgiris. The estate contributed Rs 5.65 crore in turnover (2.05% of total) and Rs 7.10 crore to net worth (3.76%) in the last financial year. The buyers are Mr. Rangasamy, his family members (Mrs. Rathinambal, Mr. Durai Arun, Mr. Saran), and Poomex Clothing Company — none of whom are related to the company's promoters. No consideration has been received yet, and definitive agreements are yet to be executed, subject to regulatory approvals.
The sale is of a small, non-material tea estate representing only ~2% of revenue, so it is unlikely to materially move the stock. It signals pruning of a legacy tea asset, but shareholders should watch for the final sale price and use of proceeds once agreements are signed.
