British government bond yields edge higher as Burnham becomes PM

British government bond (gilt) yields rose around 2-3 basis points across the curve following the appointment of Burnham as Prime Minister. The 10-year gilt yield stood at about 4.9824%, up 3 bps on the day, a slightly larger move than equivalent French, German or U.S. debt. Investors were pricing in one or two quarter-point rate hikes by the Bank of England this year.
