Bank of Maharashtra has filed its Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) for FY 2024-25 with BSE and NSE, as required under SEBI's Listing Regulations. The bank, a PSU with a paid-up capital of Rs. 7,691.55 crore, operates 2,489 branches pan-India and reported a total turnover of Rs. 28,401.62 crore. It has 14,596 permanent employees with 28% gender diversity, and opened 10.85 lakh new PM Jan Dhan Yojana accounts during the year. On the sustainability front, the bank generated 2,52,630 kWh of solar electricity, recycled 89.96% of its 20.13 MT of e-waste, and is ISO 27001:2013 certified for information security. The BRSR was assured by Kirtane & Pandit LLP with reasonable assurance on BRSR core. During the year, the bank paid a penalty of Rs. 1.32 crore to RBI for deficiencies in credit delivery and KYC compliance, and Rs. 75,000 to NPCI for AEPS technical issues.
This is a routine SEBI-mandated annual sustainability disclosure and is unlikely to directly affect the stock price. However, it provides shareholders with transparency on the bank's ESG practices, employee welfare (100% health/accident insurance), and governance — the RBI penalty disclosure confirms regulatory scrutiny but appears to have been absorbed without material business disruption.
