Can Fin Homes Limited, a housing finance company promoted by Canara Bank (~30% stake), filed its Q1 FY26 investor presentation. Loan book grew 9% YoY to Rs. 38,773 crore, serving 2.83 lakh customers across 216 branches in 21 states. Profit after tax rose 12% YoY to Rs. 223 crore on the back of 13% growth in net interest income to Rs. 363 crore. Asset quality showed mild stress with gross NPA rising to 0.98% from 0.91% and net NPA to 0.54% from 0.49%. Net interest margin improved to 3.64% from 3.57%, though cost-to-income ratio jumped to 18.33% from 14.87% due to salary revisions and new office expenses. The company has passed on cumulative 25bps rate benefit to housing loan customers in May and July 2025. Capital adequacy remained strong with AAA/Stable ratings from CARE and ICRA.
Solid loan book growth and improving margins are positive, but rising NPAs and a sharp jump in cost-to-income ratio may concern investors. Short-term stock reaction likely neutral as the headline numbers were broadly in line with expectations.
