Canara Bank reported audited results for Q4/FY25 with net profit rising 33.19% year-on-year to ₹5,004 crore. Global business grew 11.32% to ₹25,30,215 crore, driven by 11.01% growth in deposits (₹14,56,883 crore) and 11.74% growth in gross advances (₹10,73,332 crore). Retail credit surged 42.80%, with housing loans up 13.57% and vehicle loans up 19.63%. Asset quality improved sharply, with gross NPA falling to 2.94% (from 4.23%) and net NPA at 0.70% (from 1.27%). The Board recommended a dividend of ₹4 per share (200% of face value), up from 161% in FY24. Capital adequacy remained strong with CRAR at 16.33%.
Strong positive for shareholders — sharp profit growth, significantly improved asset quality, and a higher dividend payout signal healthy fundamentals. Retail credit expansion and falling NPAs may boost investor confidence and support the stock price.
