Castrol India delivered its 12th consecutive quarter of stable revenue and volume growth. Revenue grew 9% to INR 1,545 crores, EBITDA rose 7% to INR 329 crores, and PAT increased 4% to INR 242 crores. Volume grew 7-8% Y-o-Y. Management flagged growing geopolitical headwinds — crude and feedstock costs rose sharply, and the rupee depreciated ~6.5-7% Y-o-Y — which will impact Q2 onwards given the inventory cycle. One round of pricing was taken at end of March to protect margins. Rural business continues double-digit growth with 40,000 outlets and 700 Rural Service Express; premium urban brands also grew double-digit; industrial delivered another quarter of double-digit growth. Commercial vehicles are growing at high single-digit. EBITDA margin of ~21.3% was within the guided 21-24% band, but management acknowledged near-term volatility from raw material inflation. A 60-day FX hedging policy covers roughly half of imported COGS. Data centre cooling trials are ongoing in India but no market size or timeline guidance was given. Shareholder developments at parent level are subject to global regulatory approvals with no change to Castrol India's structure or strategy.
Near-term margin pressure is expected as raw material costs (crude, additives, packaging) flow through from Q2 onwards, though pricing actions and cost optimisation aim to protect the structural 21-24% EBITDA margin band. The stock faces short-term headwinds from cost inflation and geopolitical uncertainty, but the distribution expansion and premiumisation strategy underpin long-term earnings quality.
