CDSL share price falls after Sebi fines ₹1 crore over 2022 malware attack

CDSL shares fell up to 0.94% to ₹1,372.10 on the NSE after SEBI imposed a ₹1 crore penalty for cybersecurity lapses linked to a November 2022 malware attack. The penalty comprises ₹90 lakh under the SEBI Act and ₹10 lakh under the Depositories Act, to be paid within 45 days. SEBI found CDSL had failed to classify its ADFS server as a critical asset, skipped vulnerability testing, and had attackers in its systems as early as November 2021, infecting 135 of 547 servers before the attack was detected.
