Centum Electronics has won an order from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to design and develop Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar Systems for the Utility Helicopter–Maritime (UH-M) platform. The Phase-1 order is valued at ₹66 crore (₹78 crore gross inclusive of GST) and covers design and development over the next two financial years. Upon successful execution, Phase-2 envisages serial production and supply over five years, with an estimated value of ₹500 crore (₹590 crore gross). Total potential programme value is around ₹666 crore gross. The AESA radar will enable the helicopter to detect, classify, and track multiple maritime targets, strengthening Centum's position as an indigenous defence electronics player.
This is a positive development for Centum shareholders — it confirms a credible order pipeline from a marquee defence PSU customer and offers significant revenue visibility if Phase-2 materializes. Short-term, Phase-1 adds modest revenue (₹66 crore); long-term, Phase-2 (~₹500 crore) could meaningfully boost order book and margins, likely to be viewed favorably by the market.
