Century Enka shared its Q1 FY26 earnings presentation alongside the results announcement. Revenue from operations fell 24% year-on-year to INR 4,015 Mn, weighed down by weak tyre industry demand, a slowdown in two-wheeler and commercial vehicle sales, and higher Chinese imports. EBITDA dropped over 51% YoY to INR 199 Mn with margins compressing to 4.96% from 7.78%, while net profit declined 36.6% YoY to INR 154 Mn (EPS INR 7.04). Filament yarn sales were also hit by a February 2025 fire at the Bharuch plant, which only resumed full operations in June 2025. Management expects NTCF demand to recover in Q2 FY26 as tyre makers adjust inventory, with a stronger H2 likely on festive demand and favourable monsoon.
Weak Q1 numbers and explicit guidance on margin pressure from record-low caprolactam prices and cheap Chinese imports may weigh on sentiment, though the company retains a dominant 45-48% domestic market share in nylon yarn and tyre cord fabric. Near-term stock reaction is likely negative given the sharp profit decline, but management's confidence in an H2 demand recovery provides some support.
