Century Plyboards has proposed setting up a new manufacturing unit in Odisha for plywood and particle board. The company plans to add 1,20,000 CBM per year of plywood capacity in two phases (Q1 FY30 and Q1 FY31) and 2,40,000 CBM per year of particle board capacity (Q1 FY32). Total investment is approximately Rs. 870 crores, financed through debt and equity. The expansion is driven by high capacity utilization (94% for plywood, 67% for particle board), proximity to raw materials and customers, and availability of manpower. The particle board phase may be partially converted to MDF depending on business needs.
This large capital expenditure (Rs. 870 Cr) represents a major expansion that will significantly increase production capacity over the next 4-5 years. The high plywood utilization rate indicates demand supports this investment, though the large particle board addition on lower utilization could face execution risks.
