Chrome Silicon (formerly VBC Ferro Alloys) seeks shareholder approval via postal ballot to dispose of Plant & Machinery of its Ferro Alloy Plant at Rudhraram, Telangana. Plant became unviable due to obsolete Russian SAF technology, power costs at 80 percent of product cost, tariff hike from Rs 5.50 to Rs 8 per unit, and pollution complaints. An independent Chartered Engineer confirmed restart is not feasible. Sale proceeds will repay loans and support working capital. Land will be retained and monetized separately. E-voting runs 22 June to 21 July 2026.
Exits core ferro alloy manufacturing; pivots to monetizing land. Removes loss-making unit, may help repay debt and stabilize operations.
